In a border village, Güzelyurt, where life flows calmly, in the town's largest and most magnificent mansion, the unrequited sick and passionate love which is observed is freezing the blood of those who witness it... 

Dr. Serdar Batur, who for ten years worked in the health programs of the UN in the hot spots of the world, comes to Güzelyurt, a border village that is located in a mined area. Narin, a fragile girl, who experienced a lot of oppression because of Mustafa's diseased love, with resignation to her faith, she would talk to the clouds and her Lord and pray. Serdar and his mother find out about the tragedy Narin is facing and will endeavor to save her from the torture she is experiencing, however Mustafa will not let the girl he loves with a sick passion go, and he will burn everywhere with the hell fire.

Synopsis 

This is the story of Mustafa (Engin Akyürek) and Narin (Melisa Sözen), who are first cousins, binded together in marriage in childhood according to traditional and religious laws. Narin is underage hence according to Turkish law they are not recognized as husband and wife officially, much to the dismay of Mustafa who refuses to accept this fact. 

Mustafa is literally "madly" in love with Narin. But narin does not love him and does not accept him as husband, blaming him for her mothers paralysis, and also because Mustafa isn't a normal person. He suffers from epilepsy and has occasional attacks when his temper rages out of control. People assume hes not stable mentally due to this reason.He chains Narin to himself, scared that she would leave him due to his madness.

Maybe Mustafa is not mad, but unrequited love defnitely has made him so, he's very short tempered,impulsive and obsessive especially when is comes to narin. He is spoiled by the wealth and reputation of his family, thus does not take as much responsibility for his actions, which end up hurting him more than those he wants to hurt.

He's so madly in love with her, that he is willing to die, and end her life along with his even, but only if they can not be together.He truly believes that if not in this world then in hereafter they will be together as one.

Narin doesn't mind death either, she refuses to accept the physical and mental torture she bears at the hands of Mustafa and willingly goes to the minefield everyday hoping she will die and be rid of mustafa.So cold and distant she is to his love that Mustafa has a pet horse named narin whom he confides in, perceiving it to be an extention of Narin's soul, assuming when he talks to the pet horse, Narin's soul can hear his Plea to accept him.

Mustafa's parents decide to get him married to another girl named Asiye so that he can start a family with her and be so involved in his new life, that he forgets narin,but mustafa does not accept his new wife either.To him Narin is his one and only wife.

Dr Serdar and his family meanwhile move to Guzelyurt and somehow get involved in Mustafa and narin's marriage. The actions of Dr.Serdar's family start to seperate Narin from Mustafa, giving Narin freedom from Mustafa, but Mustafa as a result clings even tighter to narin and gradually delves deeper into his madness, losing all sense of reality, living in a warped world where he is Narin's and Narin is his, forever and for eternity.

Mustafa does not wish to loose her to anyone else. When faced with the reality of loosing her forever he shoots his wife Narin in a moment of compulsive,obsessive misery,wrongly believiing this could ease the soul crushing pain of his potential loss.

 All evidence of the crime is pointed towards him. The life and fate of both Mustafa and Narin lies in the hands of Dr serdar and his family now, who are determined to releasing Narin from the obsessive grip of her husband Mustafa Bulut. However, unknowingly Doctor Serdar falls in love with Narin.

A tragic and heart crushing story of a love triangle set in the conservative and backward slow life of Mardin Turkey.
