Kuzey Güney

Kuzey Güney is a spin-off Turkish television drama series of 1976 American television miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man. The scenarists are Ece Yörenç and Melek Gençoğlu. The series stars Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ as Kuzey Tekinoğlu, a restless son of an Istanbul baker, who comes back from prison four years after he admits to a crime his brother, Güney, committed.

The series is broadcast in the Turkey on the popular Kanal D channel, and is produced by Ay Yapım. It premiered on September 7, 2011 and was among Turkey's four most popular TV shows, after Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Adını Feriha Koydum, Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki and Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? being the most successful one (which is also written by the creators of Kuzey Güney).

STORY

Kuzey Güney is a story of two brothers Kuzey and Güney. Kuzey (meaning north in Turkish) is bold but rash, rebellious, has difficulty to control his anger, fearless, cannot tolerate injustice, impatient and lets his fists do the talking. Güney (meaning south) is the opposite of Kuzey. He's calm, patient, doesn't act without thinking, overall a hardworking young man. The only thing the two men have in common is their deep love for Cemre(Öykü Karayel ). After four years in prison , Kuzey(Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ ) regains his freedom again. However,he understands now that he will not be able to regain the life he once had. He realizes that his only dream of becoming a soldier has been taken away from him.He also realizes that after those four years he is the only one that has lost everything.Therefore Kuzey blames his older brother, Guney(Buğra Gülsoy) for taking everything good in his life from him.He blames Guney for destroying his future, for getting their mother's love, and for stealing the girl he loves.He wants to punish those who hurt him and decides to take his revenge.After his return home, Guney is confronted with his cold behavior. As Well as he spends most of his time with his best friend Ali(Çağdaş Onur Öztürk.)

Turkey's two most-watched series Kuzey Güney and Magnificent Century are broadcast on the same day and at the same time. They are therefore in competition with each other.
